1. Who We Are

SLAA Companion ("the App") is operated by Ahmad Ventures LLC ("we", "us", or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our app. For privacy inquiries, contact us at the address below.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide: Account information (email address and name) collected during sign-up via Email/Password, Google Sign-In, or Apple Sign-In. Onboarding profile: Recovery-related information you voluntarily enter, including sobriety date, addiction focus, bottom-line behaviors, vulnerability signs, and personal coping strategies. Reflection entries: Journal responses, written reflections, voice notes, and photos you record within lessons. Chat messages: Messages you send in the Protect My Sobriety chat feature.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to create and manage your account, personalize your recovery curriculum based on your onboarding answers, save your progress through the 12-step lesson content, power the Protect My Sobriety AI chat feature, process your subscription and unlock premium content, and display SLAA meeting schedules relevant to you. We do not use your information for advertising or sell it to third parties.

4. Third-Party Services

Firebase (Google): Authentication — email and OAuth tokens. Google Sign-In: Authentication — name and email if chosen. Apple Sign-In: Authentication — name and email if chosen. Convex: Cloud backend — email, Firebase UID, and onboarding profile. Superwall: Subscription paywalls — purchase and subscription status. Vercel (Chat API): AI chat responses — chat message content. TeamUp: SLAA meetings calendar — read-only, no data shared. Firebase Analytics is explicitly disabled in our app. We do not use any behavioral analytics or tracking SDKs.

5. Data Storage

Stored on your device only: Reflection entries, journal responses, voice notes, photos, chat history, and lesson progress. Stored on our secure servers: Your email address and onboarding recovery profile. Your locally stored data never leaves your device unless you explicitly use a cloud backup service such as iCloud Backup, which is managed by Apple.

6. Sensitive Information

This app is designed for people in recovery from sex and love addiction. The personal information you share — including sobriety dates, behaviors, and emotional patterns — is treated with the highest level of sensitivity. We do not share this information with any third party beyond what is described in the Third-Party Services section. We do not sell, rent, or trade your data.

7. Children's Privacy

SLAA Companion is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a child under 18 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it immediately.

8. Data Retention & Deletion

You may delete your account and associated data at any time by contacting us. Upon request, we will delete your account data from our servers within 30 days. Locally stored data — reflections, voice notes, and photos — can be removed by deleting the app.

9. Security

We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data transmission, Firebase's secure authentication infrastructure, and we do not store passwords directly.

10. In-App Purchases & Subscriptions

Subscription purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not store your payment information. Subscription management — cancel, upgrade — is handled through your Apple ID settings.

SLAA Companion is not a medical app and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. The content is for informational and peer-support purposes only. Always seek the advice of a qualified healthcare provider for any mental health or addiction concerns.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
